James webb telescope

 The objective

The James Webb Space Telescope (Webb) is the next major space research observatory after Hubble, and it is intended to provide definitive answers to fundamental questions about the nature of the universe and deliver ground-breaking discoveries across all areas of astronomy. Webb will be able to view further back in time, from the creation of the first stars and planets in the early Universe to the genesis of the first galaxies. An international collaboration involving NASA, ESA, and CSA is called Webb. From Europe's Spaceport in French Guiana, the telescope was launched on an Ariane 5.
